Examinations using the typical closed systems (so-called “tubes”) are very unpleasant, and not just for people suffering from claustrophobia or for those who are overweight. For this reason it is not uncommon that urgently needed examinations are delayed, interrupted, or not even performed at all. For these types of patients, open systems offer a significantly more comfortable alternative. The wishes of these patients and the physician’s requirements for maximum image quality were mutually exclusive until the development of open high field MRI several years ago. The unique construction of open MRI systems offers the highest patient comfort while still providing optimal image quality for all regions of the body.
In our private practice, we use the newest generation Philips Panorama 1.0 High Field Open MRI.
